Attorney Lovely brings 30 years of real estate and business experience to each and every case. John has tried and won both jury and jury-waived cases in state and federal courts.
John analyzes, negotiates and implements the transfer and financing of commercial and residential properties and businesses. He also drafts and negotiates loan documents, commercial and residential leases, purchase and sale agreements, stock purchase agreements, asset agreements and employment contracts. John has been general counsel to a large local condominium for 25 years and works regularly with property management companies. He has collected hundreds of thousands of dollars for clients. He creates condominium documents including master deeds, trusts, budgets and association by-laws. Additionally, John creates limited liability companies, partnerships and corporations. Attorney Lovely particularly enjoys complex transactions involving environmental and land uses issues. He has been general counsel to a gasoline distributor grossing in excess of $50m annually.
John graduated magna cum laude/Phi Beta Kappa from the University of New Hampshire in 1983 with majors in both economics and communications. He then graduated from Suffolk Law School with a juris doctorate in 1986. While in law school (and in addition to working as a law clerk for his later partner, Dan Cashman, now retired), John co-edited Suffolk Law School Briefs. John's experience as a law clerk at Gelerman, Cashman and Donahue eventually lead to his partnership and professional relationship with Attorney Dan Cashman until Dan's retirement in 2015.
John also became a licensed real estate broker in 1979 after taking the examination on his 18th birthday. John and his brother, Jeff, are principals of The Lovely Group. As The Lovely Group, third-generation John and his brother provide legal, real estate and insurance services for their growing clientele.
John is married, a father and an active member of his community. He coached youth sports for many years and serves on the Hockomock YMCA Board of Directors and Foxboro Board of Managers. He has also volunteered for Foxboro Pop Warner football.
John has been a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Massachusetts Real Estate Bar Association, Condominium Association Institute and the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. He is also a Title agent for Chicago Title Insurance Company.
